Ouch! Was it a badly installed strap button that let go or a stand that got knocked over? Your guess is as good as ours but this poor Martin hit the ground and the headstock split wide open.

Notice that there’s a secondary crack running vertically. This will require clamping from several directions and creative cauls to protect the headstock and the diamond volute on the back.

Dan used molding plastic to fit over the diamond, wooden cauls for the side clamping, and a plexiglass caul for the front and back.

Ah, there it is. After some skillfull touchup of color and clear lacquer you can barely tell that anything happened. Bet you this one now lives in its hardshell case all the time.
